Upland Borough Council adopted a 2018 operating budget totaling $3,508,053, reflecting a zero tax increase for residents. This marks the 31st consecutive year of no tax increase.

Millage was set at 2.0; the same as 2017. A homeowner with a property assessed at $80,000 can expect to pay $160 in real estate taxes in 2018.

The 2018 budget for the borough-owned Auburn Village housing complex, totals $811,560; the same as in 2016 and 2017.

The annual trash fee remains the same at $135 per household.

Council intends to add two full-time police officers, a new HVAC system for Borough Hall, and the construction of a new parking lot on 8th St.

In other matters, a committee has been appointed for the 150th anniversary of the borough’s establishment. The celebration will take place May, 24, 2019.

In a related matter, Council is holding a contest to create a new logo for the borough. A $250 cash prize will be awarded and Borough Council and members of the 150th Anniversary Committee will select the winner. The contest runs from January to March 2018. Submissions should be sent to the borough office at 224 Castle Ave., Upland, PA 19015, c/o the Sesquicentennial Committee.
