Hundreds of Brookhaven children flocked to the borough’s second annual Trunk or Treat event last Saturday at Coebourn Elementary School.
Organized by residents Mike and Janice Garvey and a group of dedicated neighbors, the afternoon event featured decorated car trunks in every theme imaginable.
From goblins, witches and the Lion King to Ghostbusters, The Wizard of Oz and crazy beach scenes, the time that was put into this event was more than obvious.
“The Brookhaven Trunk or Treat was an idea I had to promote unity,” said Mike Garvey. “I asked for assistance and received so much help. I could not have possibly imagined how great the event would be this year. We are also so very grateful for the support we have received from the Borough of Brookhaven.”
Children, dressed in a variety of Halloween costumes, carrying buckets and bags, walked from car to car, receiving candy and treats along the way. By mid-afternoon there were four lanes of decorated cars and many very excited children and adults.
“We are having such a great time today,” said 10 year-old Megan Wheeler. “The candy is good and I love seeing all the decorations.”
