Drexel Hill Middle School Music students took top honors at the Trills and Thrills Music Festival in Dorney Park last week.
The Jazz Band, the Symphonic Band, the Girls Ensemble, the Concert Singers and Seventh and Eighth Grade Chorus received first place superior honors during the competition in Allentown.
The Orchestra earned fourth place superior rating and won the violin section award for their performance.
Upper Darby School District (UDSD) Manager of Media Services Dana Spino said the school “had a wonderful showing.” According to Spino, the Jazz Band earned a first place superior rating and also best rhythm section honors. Soloist honors were awarded to John Hoey, Colby Kantner and Chris Dwyer.
The Symphonic Band also earned a first place superior rating and the top award for percussion section with eighth grader Luke Finley taking home soloist honors.
The Concert Singers also garnered the highest chorale score of the day.
