Aston commissioners, last week, recognized Sun Valley High School Junior Kate Lannon for excellence on the basketball court. The daughter of Mike and Terri Lannon, Kate scored her 1,000th point on Jan. 9th when the Sun Valley Vanguards defeated Chester High School, 52-41.
Lannon is only the second player in Sun Valley history to score 1,000 points before her senior year.
She played youth basketball in Aston, St. Joseph’s CYO, and on the Northley Middle School team. She also plays during the summer for the Comets, an AAU team.
Over the past two years, Lannon has been a second team All-Delco selection as well as the All-Ches-Mont first team and currently has the distinction of being the top scorer in the entire Ches-Mont League.
In other matters, commissioners, via resolution, made application to Delaware County Council for $18,833 of county liquid fuel tax funds to be used in the resurfacing of several township roads.
Commissioners granted final plan approval to GEM Property Management, LLC for a parcel of ground on the south side of Crozerville Road, approximately 250 feet west of Mt. Pleasant Drive.
GEM plans to construct a 7,200 square foot storage building for mulch. An office building is currently on the 3.672 parcel.
