Chester Upland School District (CUSD) Receiver Joe Watkins announced Monday he has accepted a position with an innovative, new global social media company called ElectedFace. Following his resignation as CUSD receiver, effective June 30th, Watkins will become executive vice president for external affairs for the website that connects people to their government officials in every political district in America.
“I have truly enjoyed the opportunity to help make (CUSD) a better place for our students,” said Watkins. “Our schools are significantly safer and offer more and better opportunities for learning. And we are seeing the results. In our more academically rigorous environment, every single person in the school system — from student to teacher, administrator, support staff and parents — is responsible for helping students learn.”
Watkins was appointed CUSD’s receiver by Delaware County Court of Common Pleas Judge Chad F. Kenney in December 2012. He developed a financial and academic recovery plan for the district earlier that fall as chief recovery officer, and has focused on its implementation since.
