epublican Committee-endorsed candidate Jon Firlein defeated incumbent 4th Ward Commissioner Gary Robinson, 198-175, in Tuesday’s primary election.

Firlein joined members of the Republican Committee for a victory gathering at party headquarters following computation of the votes.


Aston Republican Leader Joe DeVuono said he was “very pleased” that Firlein was victorious. “I am so proud of the people who came out to the polls and supported Jon in the fourth ward,” said DeVuono, “he worked tirelessly campaigning and I know he will do a great job as commissioner.”


Firlein has lived in the township for 29 years, is a graduate of Ridley High School and served four years in the U.S. Navy. He is a Vietnam Veteran.


Firlein retired in 2006 from Sunoco where he worked in emergency service fire security. He is a 32nd degree Shriner and a life member of VFW Post #7213 in Norwood.


Firlein has been involved in the Aston Valley Baseball League and the Concord Dance Studio with his daughter. He is currently a member of the Men’s Republican Club of Aston.
