emocrats have been the majority on Brookhaven Council since 1992, but Tuesday’s election gave the leadership, and the majority, to Republicans.

Incumbent Republican Daniel McCray and Republican newcomers Donna Fooks and Susan Rendler-Truesdale defeated longtime Democratic Councilwoman Janice Sawicki and Democrats Michael Ruggieri and James LaPera.

McCray, a lifelong borough resident, is a graduate of Sun Valley High School who attended Delaware County Community College. He works at Delcora and is a shop steward for Teamsters Local 115.

McCray is currently the liaison to the Board of Recreation and to the Penn-Delco School Board.

Fooks has lived in Brookhaven for the past 12 years. She is a 1985 graduate of Sun Valley High School and a 2008 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Rosemont College. Fooks has been employed for 21 years at Catholic Health Initiatives; currently the office manager…
