For the past several months, Parkside Borough Council has been discussing the adoption of what has become a controversial firearms ordinance and tonight (Wednesday, Aug. 24th) the final draft is scheduled for adoption at Council’s 7 P.M. regular meeting.

If adopted, the act will limit the outdoor use of firearms and provide penalties for violation.

The ordinance prohibits shooting of any shotgun, rifle, gun, pistol, revolver or other firearms unless being used in the defence of one’s property. Firearms may not be used for target practice, to shoot game or for amusement.

In addition, the use of a compound bow is also prohibited, again with the exception of personal protection.
